The food business is a competitive world, and connections are important – enter the Anuga Food Fair, a ten-in-one trade show based in Koelnmesse, Cologne, and running from the 10th to the 14th of October. Anuga has grown from year to year, and its expansion and popularity have led it to become one of the leading food fairs worldwide. Guests and exhibitors alike have the chance to make connections and soak in a wealth of fresh ideas, keeping them on top of the food trade game.
Who can attend
Anuga is open to trade visitors only; those operating in the food and drink wholesale trade, trade co-operatives and reps, health food stores, importers and exporters, manufacturers and suppliers. The fair is split into ten trade show sections: Fine Food, Frozen Food, Meat, Chilled & Fresh Food, Dairy, Bread & Bakery/Hot Beverages, Drinks, Organic, Food Service, and RetailTec.
These various platforms focus intensely on their specific themes and allow visitors to discover new and exciting foods, drinks, business ideas and technologies.
What there is to see
The Anuga Organic Market, having proved extremely popular in previous years, is a special show including over 1,500 products available for the retail sector. There is also the Anuga Olive Oil Market, which includes tasting sessions and seminars, and the Anuga Trend Zone, among others. The latter involves a number of up-to-date presentations about product development and consumer trends – absolutely essential viewing for anybody in the food industry to stay connected to their customers.
The Anuga Culinary Stage allows up to two hundred spectators to watch professional caterers prepare high-quality food with the latest modern kitchen equipment. As special highlights, Patissier of the Year and Chef of the Year will be celebrated on the 11th and 12th respectively. Guests will have the chance to enjoy snacks while they learn at the FoodService Power Breakfast, which combines the most important meal of the day with crucial lectures about the global food service market, taking place on the 10th, 11th, and 12th.
Develop your business
Another important feather in the Anuga Festival’s cap is the iFood 2015 food conference hosted by the German Institute of Food Technology. This will involve talks and lectures from influential and successful speakers from the world of food. The conference runs on the 12th and 13th, and will focus on digitalism, consumer trends, new foods and converging industries. It’s the perfect opportunity to network with other food professionals and brainstorm new concepts.
The Anuga website itself includes a great free contact-making tool, Matchmaking365, which allows visitors to submit a simple enquiry and get connected with all relevant exhibitors. The site also includes downloadable .pdf data files for all ten sections of the fair, newsletters, this year’s catalogue, and even helpful travel and accommodation information.
Advance sale tickets for the event run from just 32 Euros for a day ticket, up to 69 Euros for the full four days. This four day extravaganza offers so much choice and wealth of information, no business can afford to let it pass unvisited.
